It’s a wise woman who once said that fashion is about following trends while style is about finding what you enjoy and looks best on you. So, if you are a self-professed fashionista, then you know that cultivating your own style, consists, in part, of discovering all of the different kinds of looks that are available to you. You can do this by reading magazines and blogs and also by checking out television shows that have a strong fashion influence in them.
If you’d like to know about some of the current must-see TV shows for aspiring fashionistas, you’re in luck. We’ve actually provided you with five of our favorite ones below:
Fashion Police. Sure, some people watch Fashion Police for Joan Rivers crass sense of humor but even more watch it to see what her crew has to say about the latest in celebrity fashion. So, if you want to check out what’s hot and what’s not, every Friday night on E! is where you want to be.
Project Runway. If you’re not just a fashionista but also an aspiring fashion designer, then Project Runway is a reality television series, currently within its 12th season, that is worth an hour of your time. One of the fun things about this particular show is that since each week the designers are given a test, you are able to watch, firsthand, how creative fashion can really be. It might even inspire you to take a few risks of your own. (You can catch it on Thursday nights on Lifetime.)
Blood, Sweat and Heels. Here’s a bit of trivia: Guess which show got the most viewers for a premiere in Bravo’s history? That’s right, it would be Blood, Sweat and Heels—a television show featuring several women of color living in the heart of New York City. Although they all come from different walks of life, one thing that you get from just a few minutes of watching the show is that they are serious about fashion; especially Daisy Lewellyn who is a style expert and Mica Hughes who owns a modeling studio. It comes on every Sunday night.
What Not to Wear (Reruns). It’s hard to believe that What Not to Wear signed off in 2013. After all, Stacy and Clinton became a bit of a staple for those of us who either love fashion or wanted to learn how to style ourselves a bit better. The good news is that you can still catch a lot of their reruns on Lifetime each and every day. Check your local listings for details and then check TV Store Online to see if they have any clothes that were featured on the program.
FashionTV. One of the best things about fashion is that it’s a “language” that translates all over the world. That’s why a lot of fashionistas like Fashion TV, the website for Fashion TV’s international network. On it, you will see a television schedule, fashion videos, news, products and even upcoming events. It’s the best in fashion—both on television and online.
